Powerline Technician is a SkilledTradesBC compulsory Skilled Trades Certification trade covering the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems. This is a distinct trade from an electrician or an electrical contractor — it is not the same certification or licence as a residential or commercial electrical contractor licence. Quantus connects BC utilities and infrastructure employers with certified Powerline Technicians and registered apprentices.

Powerline Technician is a compulsory Skilled Trades Certification trade in BC — every powerline technician must have an authorized SkilledTradesBC status, such as being a certified journeyperson, registered apprentice, or eligible experienced worker operating under a valid Temporary Authorization. Quantus will check each powerline technician's certification against the SkilledTradesBC registry at onboarding, so employers hire on confirmed credentials, not claims.
In British Columbia, Powerline Technician is one of SkilledTradesBC's 7 compulsory Skilled Trades Certification trades. A worker must have an authorized SkilledTradesBC status for this trade — such as being a certified journeyperson, registered apprentice, or eligible experienced worker operating under a valid Temporary Authorization — to legally perform this work. Quantus will verify trade certification against the SkilledTradesBC registry at tradesperson onboarding.
A nationally recognized endorsement showing a tradesperson has met the interprovincial Red Seal standard for the trade, helping facilitate recognition of their certification across Canada.
BC Certificate of Qualification issued by SkilledTradesBC. To perform this compulsory trade you must either hold this as a journeyperson, or be a registered apprentice (below) working under journeyperson supervision.

No. Powerline Technician is its own SkilledTradesBC compulsory trade for transmission and distribution work, separate from Construction Electrician and Industrial Electrician, and separate from an electrical contractor licence issued by Technical Safety BC.
