Grouped by how BC certifies them
In British Columbia, some trades require certification by law — others certify by choice. Quantus verifies each tradesperson's credentials at onboarding, against the body that regulates their trade.
Compulsory Skilled Trade
These trades require certification by law in BC. Workers must have an authorized SkilledTradesBC status — such as being a certified journeyperson, registered apprentice, or eligible experienced worker operating under a valid Temporary Authorization — which Quantus checks against the SkilledTradesBC registry at onboarding.
Regulated Certification Required
Mandatory certification exists for this work, but it is administered outside the ordinary SkilledTradesBC compulsory-trade model — often by a different regulatory body entirely.
Voluntary Trade Certification
Certification is optional for these trades in BC — many tradespeople invest in it anyway. That said, voluntary status only covers the general trade: some specialized work within these trades can still carry its own separate, mandatory credential.
Certification Depends on Scope
These are marketplace occupations that span several distinct, separately regulated trades and credentials — which one applies depends on the specific work performed, not the occupation name.
