What masons do in BC
Masons in BC lay brick, block, stone, and other masonry materials for structural and decorative applications. The official SkilledTradesBC Red Seal trade name is Bricklayer — "Mason" is the marketplace occupation name, and not every mason on Quantus will hold the Bricklayer C of Q, since certification is voluntary. From new commercial construction to heritage restoration, BC masons on Quantus are skilled tradespeople ready to deliver lasting masonry work across British Columbia.
We'll verify the credentials masons choose to hold
Certification is voluntary for masons in BC — many invest in it anyway. Quantus will verify the certifications, insurance, and WorkSafeBC coverage a mason does hold at onboarding, so employers can tell verified credentials from claims. Note that voluntary status covers only the general trade — some specialized work can still carry its own separate, mandatory credential.
In British Columbia, certification for masons is voluntary — there's no legal requirement to hold a Certificate of Qualification or Red Seal to work as a mason. The applicable SkilledTradesBC credential is the Bricklayer Certificate of Qualification / Red Seal — an optional credential some masons on Quantus hold, not one every mason possesses. Quantus will verify whichever credentials a mason holds at onboarding.
A nationally recognized endorsement showing a tradesperson has met the interprovincial Red Seal standard for the Bricklayer trade, helping facilitate recognition of their certification across Canada. Not every mason holds this.
