About Quantus
Quantus is a verified trades marketplace built for British Columbia. We connect sole-proprietor tradespeople with the employers who hire them — directly, without staffing agencies, recruiter calls, or per-placement fees.
We're launching in BC in 2026. Until then, we're building the platform, verifying our first cohort of tradespeople, and listening to the people who'll use it.
Why Quantus exists
The way skilled tradespeople and employers find each other in BC is broken in four specific ways. Quantus exists to fix all four.
Generic platforms don't understand the trades
Indeed, Craigslist, and LinkedIn weren't built for skilled trades. They don't know what a Red Seal is, can't filter by C of Q level, and surface generic resumes instead of verified credentials. Tradespeople end up competing on keywords; employers end up reading résumés that don't tell them what they need to know.
Agencies take too much from skilled workers
Staffing agencies typically take a 20–30% cut of contract value. That money comes off the top of what tradespeople earn — for a service that often amounts to a phone introduction. Quantus doesn't take a cut of contracts. Tradespeople keep what they negotiate.
Sole proprietors deserve a direct line
Most sole-proprietor tradespeople in BC already have their own ticket, their own insurance, and their own business. They don't need a placement agency — they need a way to be found. Quantus is built so independent tradespeople can be hired directly, on their own terms.
Credentials should be verified, not assumed
Nobody checks credentials properly. Employers ask for copies of tickets and insurance certificates, then have no way to confirm they're real or current. Quantus verifies trade certification against the SkilledTradesBC registry, confirms liability insurance with the broker, and obtains a WorkSafeBC clearance letter directly. Employers see verified status, not PDFs.
What we believe
A marketplace is shaped by the principles behind it. These are ours.
Quantus never takes a cut of a contract. Tradespeople negotiate their own rates and keep 100% of what they bill.
Anyone can ask for a PDF of a ticket. We check trade certification against the SkilledTradesBC registry, confirm insurance with brokers, and pull WorkSafeBC clearance letters directly. If we can't verify it, we don't claim it.
Quantus surfaces matches and handles the workflow around them — timesheets, approvals, reviews. We don't manage the relationship, set the rate, or sit in the middle of payment. That's between the people doing the work.
The construction industry in BC has its own certifications, its own regulator, its own safety body. A national or international platform can't model that properly. We can, because we're built here.
What we won't do
Being explicit about what we don't do helps both sides know what to expect.
We won't take a cut of contracts. Tradespeople keep what they negotiate. Employers pay tradespeople directly.
We won't employ tradespeople. Every tradesperson on Quantus is an independent sole proprietor with their own certification, insurance, and business.
We won't list unverified tradespeople. To apply for jobs, tradespeople need verified trade certification and active liability insurance. No exceptions.
We won't sell your data. Quantus is PIPEDA and PIPA compliant. The information you share with us stays in Canada and isn't sold to third parties.
We won't pretend to be everywhere. Quantus launches in BC because that's where we can do verification properly. We'll expand when we can do it right elsewhere.
Where we're going
We're launching in British Columbia in 2026. That's the focus. But the gap we're filling isn't unique to BC, and tradespeople and employers across Canada have already joined the waitlist asking when we'll reach them.
